Christie (Modern)

your tartan, your story
Clan Christie is a Scottish family name with roots in the Lowlands and north-east, particularly Fife, Perthshire and Aberdeenshire. The name is a pet form of Christopher or Christian, so many bearers likely descend from separate families rather than a single ancestor. It is generally treated as a sept of larger clans such as Clan Farquharson, with ties to the Chattan Confederation also noted in some sources. Christies were historically merchants and craftsmen, and the name appears in records from the 14th century onward, later spreading through emigration to Canada, Australia and the United States.
