Farquharson (Modern)

your tartan, your story
Clan Farquharson (Clann Fhearchair) emerged along Aberdeenshire’s Royal Deeside, tracing its descent from Farquhar Shaw and rising as a distinct Highland power under his grandson, Finlay Mor, who fell at Pinkie Cleugh in 1547. A core member of the Clan Chattan confederation, the clan was fiercely devoted to the Stuart monarchs, fighting across all major Jacobite risings—most famously when Anne Farquharson ("Colonel Anne") rallied troops for Bonnie Prince Charlie. From their historic stronghold at Braemar Castle, the chiefs endured post-Culloden crackdowns to remain one of Deeside’s most prominent landed dynasties today.
