Fraser (Ancient)

your tartan, your story
Clan Fraser is a Highland clan with Norman origins, first recorded in Scotland in the 12th century and later holding lands around Inverness-shire, with the chiefs known as Lord Lovat. The clan’s main branches included the Frasers of Lovat and the Frasers of Philorth, who became the Lords Saltoun in Aberdeenshire. Frasers fought at Bannockburn and supported Robert the Bruce, and the clan was later heavily involved in the Jacobite risings, with Simon Fraser, 11th Lord Lovat, executed in 1747 after Culloden. The clan’s motto is “Je suis prest,” meaning “I am ready,” and Fraser remains one of the best-known Highland names, with a wide diaspora, notably in Canada.
