Hunter (Ancient)

your tartan, your story
The Hunters became hereditary Keepers of the Royal Forests on the Isle of Arran and Little Cumbrae and established their seat at Hunterston, where a 1374 charter from King Robert II granting land to William Hunter is still preserved. Over the centuries, members of the clan served the Scottish Crown in roles tied to hunting, land stewardship, and military service, and their ancestral home—Hunterston Castle—remains one of the few Scottish castles still held by the original family.
